AstroLearn AI
AI-Enhanced Immersive Astronomy Education Platform

AstroLearn AI is an innovative AI-powered immersive education platform developed by Cyprus Planetarium, designed to transform astronomy learning through interactive storytelling, adaptive educational communication, and real-time audience engagement.

At the heart of the platform is IRILIS, the project’s AI-driven educational astronomer and immersive interaction entity. IRILIS functions as an intelligent conversational guide capable of delivering adaptive narration, answering astronomy and space science questions in real time, guiding visitors through immersive educational experiences, and supporting inquiry-based STEM learning through dynamic human-AI interaction.

The AstroLearn AI ecosystem integrates:

  • AI-assisted narration and storytelling,
  • real-time voice and text interaction,
  • immersive dome-compatible educational presentations,
  • scientific visualisation and astronomy media systems,
  • adaptive educational workflows,
  • and interactive public kiosk environments.

Through IRILIS, visitors, students, educators, and public audiences can engage with astronomy and space science using natural conversational interaction, immersive exploration experiences, and AI-guided educational journeys including topics such as the Solar System, black holes, stellar evolution, and space exploration.

The platform was designed as a modular multisystem educational environment supporting:

  • immersive science communication,
  • adaptive learning experiences,
  • audience-responsive educational interaction,
  • STEM engagement and public outreach,
  • and future scalability across educational, cultural, and immersive exhibition environments.

Expected project results include:

  • the operational validation of IRILIS as an AI-assisted educational interaction system,
  • the deployment of the AstroLearn AI immersive kiosk platform,
  • enhanced visitor engagement and inquiry-based learning experiences,
  • innovative AI-supported astronomy education methodologies,
  • and the establishment of a scalable next-generation immersive educational ecosystem.
