Gyroscope

What does it really feel like to rotate freely in space? How do astronauts prepare for the intense disorientation of microgravity? At The Cyprus Planetarium, visitors now have the opportunity to answer these questions — not from a textbook, but from direct personal experience.

The Science Behind the Gyroscope

The Gyroscope — also known as a multi-axis trainer — is a mechanical marvel developed for aerospace training. Used by pilots, astronauts, and researchers, it simulates zero-gravity conditions by spinning the rider in multiple directions simultaneously. The sensation is intense yet deeply controlled, allowing the body to experience disorientation in a safe, monitored environment.

This full-body experience trains spatial awareness, physical coordination, and mental resilience. It’s more than a thrill — it’s kinetic education.
