The Sun and Us – Guided Tour

Step into The Sun and Us, a fascinating space weather exhibition created by Frederick University and funded by the European Space Agency (ESA), and experience it at its best—with a guided tour. This unique exhibition blends interactive exhibits, immersive audiovisual installations, and cinematic storytelling to reveal the science, beauty, and power of our star.

Led by our expert guides, you’ll explore how solar flares, coronal mass ejections, and the solar wind affect life on Earth—impacting satellite communication, aviation, electricity networks, and even human health. You’ll also enjoy the award-winning documentary “Northern Lights – A Magic Experience”, which captures one of the Sun’s most breathtaking effects on our planet.

Curated by the Cyprus Ionosphere & Space Weather Research Group (CyIRG), led by Professor Haris Haralambous, and featuring guided interpretations by Dr Christina Oikonomou, this tour connects each display to cutting-edge research happening right here in Cyprus.

Whether you’re a science enthusiast, a student, or simply curious about the universe, this guided experience will deepen your understanding of the Sun’s role in sustaining—and sometimes challenging—life on Earth.

Each tour will be conducted by a member of our scientific team, providing visitors with a detailed walk-through of the exhibition. The tour will conclude in the conference room, where attendees will watch a film about the Aurora Borealis.

Each session will last approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes: 45 minutes for the exhibition tour and 30 minutes for the film screening.
